Molinare’s Senior Colourist, Asa Shoul, picked up the Special, Visual & Graphic Effects BAFTA Craft Award at Sunday night’s Ceremony for his work on The Crown.

The Crown

Asa was nominated along with visual effects company, One of Us, for his work on the Netflix series which also won Best Costume Design at the Ceremony.

The Molinare DI team created a new workflow to help VFX sit in to the grade seamlessly over the 10 hour 4K series.  Asa worked with production before shooting began on camera, costume and makeup tests with both series DoPs and the onset DiT to ensure all departments were confident of the approach and look of the series.

Asa comments:

“I'm so pleased that the Bafta jury recognised the incredibly subtle and sophisticated work of One of Us on this production and our contribution to the process. It was an absolute pleasure to work on the show.”

Julie Parmenter, Managing Director, comments:

“It is wonderful to see the exceptional skills of our creative team receive the recognition they deserve for their work with this prestigious award. The Crown is a hugely successful series and we are proud to have worked on a production of this calibre.”

Alex Sawyer from Molinare owned audio facility, Hackenbacker, also picked up an award as part of the sound team on The Night Manager.

Rillington Place won The Photography & Lighting: Fiction award - graded by colourist Andrew Daniel, marking the second time in a row this category has been won by a Molinare posted production.
