UK Screen and Immigration

UK Screen works with the VFX sector to respond to calls for evidence from the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) – the body advising Government on immigration issues.

UK Screen works with the VFX sector to respond to calls for evidence from the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) – the body advising Government on immigration issues. This Tier 2 (General) work enables UK VFX companies to recruit shortage roles from outside the EEA when necessary, to deliver inward investment feature film projects. This benefits both the film industry and the UK economy as a whole. Projects and consultation responses have included:

  • Submissions to MAC on Annual Migration Limits and other policies affecting members and on the Codes of Practice for employers.
  • Submission on the review of the shortage occupation list (which enables our VFX members to recruit skills from outside Europe) and our arguments against a sunset clause. MAC has accepted all of our recommendations to date.
  • In addition UK Screen worked with PACT and other trade bodies in the creative industries to develop a framework around Tier 1 (exceptional talent) route.

UK Screen members can view the consultation documents and outcomes in our Members' Area.
